Poor Jake

Jake is going to have to go to the vet.  I've been putting it off because I know he's dying and I just don't want to hear it from the people who know it for sure.  But, he's now taken to pooping around the house.  He's using the litter box for peeing, thankfully, but pooping is not good.  I don't think he's retaining nutrition either.  I've been madly focusing on the fact that he still eats and moves around fairly well and does not seem in pain at all.  But I think I'm floating down the river of denial and now that river is getting filled with kitty poop.

So... we'll go to the vet.  I'll call for an appointment tomorrow.  Sigh.  He's had such a good long life that it's hard to be too sad.  At least that's how I'm choosing to think about it.

He didn't even get very excited today about the Mariners sweeping San Diego today with the third dramatic win in a row.  You know, [livejournal.com profile] pisceandreamer, I'd be lying if I said I was sorry.  They won't let us play Kansas City any time soon.  Tomorrow we have to go back to Cleveland to play one of the snow games.

Otherwise nice Sunday.  Graduation music is the background of my life these days!  It's not loud enough to be intrusive but kind of like musac with the volume really low.

I hate when people have to come to this part of their furry friend's lives. It's so hard.
Give Jake a skritch from me please?

I can relate; we're up against the same decision for our dog, who will be 17 in 2 more weeks. She's eating well, but is very senile, her legs give out, and she's incontinent at times (not so much a control problem as it is a problem of her not knowing where she is). We're travelling the road of denial as well...

Are you sure he isn't just being a shithead? My kitty is the same age, and if I haven't scooped the litter fast enough she poops just outside of it.

And give him some ear skritchies for me.

I hope it isn't as bad as you suspect.

I know how hard it is. We just went through a similar problem with our Jacques last year.

What a tough decision, but I did not want to drag it out and watch him get worse. I still cry about it sometimes.

Jake is lucky, you won't let him suffer.
