30 minutes at 2.9 on the treadmill and then some stretches and then... 6 minutes at L4 on the Bike with a Back!!

When I think of recombinant er ah... let's make that recumbent (thanks [livejournal.com profile] qnetter!) bikes I think of those bikes where your feet are on the same level as your ass.  But the ones they have now at the New Gym are really more like regular bikes with backs on them.  Your feet are below your ass so you pedal down but not so far below that you could stand on the pedals.

Anyway, this morning Ann's husband (neighbor down the hall) was on one and he's really old and very frail and I figure if he can do it, so can I!  So when I finished up my treadmill, I stretched some and then gave it a go.  Pretty easy to figure out and soon I was pedaling away.  It actually felt a little too easy but I figured I'd give it 5 and see.  (The gym was really hot today - Tjia said that she had called the building manager - I suspect it's left over from the building being shut down all weekend.)

I was listening to my book and forgot to stop at 5 minutes so I did 6.  And then stopped.  On the way home I realized that the little bike action was actually a lot more action than I realized!  This is good.

Recumbent, dearest.

Recombinant bikes would screw with your DNA.

Biking is good cross training for running, so I imagine it would be for walking, too. And it's easier to go longer on the bike than running as well, so it's a good way to build up stamina. :D
