The older I get the more Mom Moments I have.  But no matter how many I have, each one is a shock.  My Mom Moments are when I do or say or make a sound that was hers.  Sometimes when I clear my throat, I sound just like she did clearing hers.  Or I'll use a phrase that I never do but she always did.  Or I'll stand the way she used to stand.

When I was in my early 30's in the early 80's I was on TV a lot in Charlotte, NC.  My job had me routinely on news and local talk shows.  During this time, Mom and Daddy moved to a small town in western North Carolina that got the Charlotte TV stations so they could finally tune in. When I got home from work one night shortly after they had settled in, the phone was ringing and it was Mom:

"I saw you on that noon show today and it was like looking at myself 20 years ago!! You sound like me, you look like I did and you use the same gestures!!  It was freaky!!!"

Just now, I was in the hallway here watching the worker guys pull more junk out of the unit down the hall and recognized that my hands were on my hips and my feet apart in a way that she used to stand while waiting for us to come receive our punishment for whatever horrible thing we had done.

It is freaky.

I know what you mean. I pass by a mirror sometimes lately and catch a glimpse of myself and it is my mom at my age.

You're not alone. I don't look a bit like my Mom, but sometimes I open my mouth and her voice comes out. Usually something that would have annoyed me if it was her--mortifying!
