Still cellphone happy.  I just tried out my favorite cellphone earphones on the snickers bar and they work fine!  Nice.

But now the TV is starting with horizontal line problems - across the top of the screen.  Fuck.  If this is as bad as it gets, ok, but if this is the beginning of something big, I'm going to be pissed. I do not want to buy a new TV and getting this one fixed would probably cost as much as a new one.  Oh well.  I'm not going to worry about it until I have to.

Can I just say that having a score of Seattle 4 and Cincinnati 0 in the first inning tonight is a whole lot more fun than the first inning last night when it was Cincinnati 4 and Seattle 0 (and went on to get much worse).

I am going to be the bearer of bad news and confirm your suspicion. Unless its a very minor problem with an obvious solution, or unless there is *huge* sentimental value involved, it generally is not worth what it will cost to repair a TV. Especially if its an older CRT or non-digital TV. You'd be better off setting some money aside each month until the set dies totally, and then use that to buy a new TV (keeping in mind that without cable or satellite, or a converter box, analog TVs will become large paperweights beginning February 18 of 2009).

Unfortunately, that's one of those questions that can't be answered without knowing exactly what the problem is. There's things that cause that problem (lines across the screen) that actual failure of the part will take a long time, but others can fail over night. Its a total crap shoot on things like that.

Yeah, I was carefully refraining from mentioning that game. (But I'm sure that you're pleased that Jeff Weaver actually had a good game earlier in the week.)
