My choices are:

natural (thick black side frames)
theaterwide (4:3)
theaterwide for letterbox programs
theaterwide for letterbox programs with subtitles
full picture (16:9)

The installer guy said that full or natural were the best.  I'm not sure I'm happy with those black frames.  And full seems squatty.

I'm guessing I'll get used to whatever but which whatever should I get used to?

It is heaven to have such a great picture.  I did wonder if I should have gotten the 42 inch one but I was afraid it would swallow up the living room and I am pretty sure I was right. The 37 inch one is the perfect size for the room and the furniture and plenty big enough for me to see.

I realized this morning that part of the cause of my suddenly needing a better TV - besides my other one getting hinky - was the TV's at the new gym.  The TV at the old gym was just like mine and as fuzzy.  At the new gym there are three 42inchers hanging in front of the cardio machines.  Didn't take me long to get spoiled.

I can't wait for the ballgame to start so I can see it clearly!

I watch in full picture, regardless, because I like Fat Hollywood People. It's awesome. Practically nobody looks like they need a sandwich.

If you are talking about standard or enhanced def at the 4:3 ratio, I go natural. I can't stand the squatty-stretchy thingy. The nice thing about my cable box is, that if it's say... Lifetime... doing a standard def rerun of something shot in high-def 16:9, my #-key will zoom it to fill the screen.

Like my TV guy told me... it's all about preference. When I bought mine, he just cut me loose. Told me to find one pleasing to my eye, and we'd talk about it.

Welcome to the land of pretty TV. Every time I turn mine on, I let out a little 'squee!'

I adjust based on what I'm watching. I find the warping of the picture by putting a 4:3 signal on to a 16:9 screen to be very annoying.

The 42 incher was just right for our living room and where we placed it. You are so right about the size. Too big, and it spoils it.

We had thought about a bigger one, but like you, it would have been too big.

I just knew you would love the new TV. You deserve it!!!
