Miscellaneous semi-interesting things

• The line at the post office was long. But, I had my newspaper to read and what the heck. It moved pretty quickly and my turn came before I finished the paper. Not so bad at all!



• I got a notice today about flood insurance that is free to me because I have my mortgage at Union Federal. It lists my name and my address and my loan number. The interesting thing is that Union Federal is where my earstwhile mortgage broker keeps saying he is setting up my refi mortgage. I haven't closed yet or signed any papers or even heard from the sonofabitch in more than two weeks. This is quite interesting. If I start getting mortgage bills from this place I'm going to be pretty darned pissed. Probably time I start asking around about a good lawyer.



• This morning I had no email from Mom. I finally figured out I had no email from anyone. I pay a service to scrub the spam out of my email. There are other ways to go, I know, but for $36 a year it's well worth it to me. They are so reliable that I didn't even think of them until about mid-morning and, sure enough, they were down - major outage. They were back up by 11 a.m. with full information and plan for preventing another occurrance. I think sometimes these things - like computer things and electricity - go out to remind me to be grateful. I am reminded.



• I got email from my brother... Mom got lost. Seriously lost. And her cellphone went out of satellite range into roaming. She had no idea how to use it and no idea where she was. She finally managed to get there but added more than 2 hours on to her trip. She gets lost in Charleston going places she's been a hundred times. Last Christmas she came here and took my car to my sister's and got lost going and lost coming back. I think maybe it's time she reconciled herself to a tighter radius. At least she's safe and didn't take out any families on the highway.

Yep! Spamcop. Love 'em. And they are never down so it took me a while to figure out what was going on!

Actually the whole thing is a bit selfish. It's my excuse to buy yarn and make a never ending string of afghans. And it eases my conscience that I don't do more. But, I do appreciate your note. Thanks and I love that you and PiLL and Parker are having such a fun holiday - however, we do need more photos...
