machupicchu did a walking tour today and got some wonderful photographs of downtown Seattle but, even more cool, he annotated them all so you can know what you are looking at.  (unzeugmatic, machupicchu's tour is put on by the same folks as your bungalow tour. He says good things about it!)

He's even pointed to my exact unit and The Tree That I Hate!

This is all very promising.

I'll be in touch about further details. My parents have their plane tickets, although I don't have mine yet. The conference hotel seems to be right in your neighborhood. I may well stay there along with my parents.
