Perfect Picnic Weather
Jul. 13th, 2007 01:32 pmThe company I work for actually has a little building of offices. I think on most days there are 4 or 5 people who actually work there. The rest of us are flung around Seattle and beyond and never see each other. The company does a lot of things so there are some people (maybe 10 or so) who's names I've never even heard.
Of the 10 or so people I work with every day, I've actually met face to face, maybe 3.
Every year the owner of the company has a Christmas party at his house and a summer picnic somewhere in a park in town. I went to the Christmas party the fist year. It was hard to find in the dark, the house is small and the crowd (bring your friends and family) was large and I knew no one. I stayed maybe 10 minutes and left. The summer picnic last year was at 5 p.m. on a Wednesday that was very hot and at a park that was hard to get to in rush hour traffic so did not consider going for a minute.
But this year is different and the picnic is today!
It is nice and cool out and promises to stay that way. The picnic is at a park that I'm pretty sure I can find easily and it has parking plus the fun begins at 3 and not 5!
I've been working very closely for many months with a great woman named Anna. I've never laid eyes on her. It will be fun to see what she looks like. I actually interviewed two guys who were recently hired and with whom I will be working very closely and it will be good to meet them, too. Plus, there is one editor who I met very briefly once several months ago. She seemed like the totally coolest of sorts and someone I would enjoy visiting with and I think she go the same vibe and she will be there, too, as she said in her IM 'with myself the elf'!
Boss provides all the food and drink and all we need bring is ourselves. I have to say that I'm quite looking forward to it!
