Don't data centers have redundant power sources???

Ok, I'm going to try and get past this.

I watched Saving Grace.  TNT.  I think it might be a keeper.  I'm looking forward to Damages.

but they don't last 7 hours. if you go to http://status.sixapart.com you can see they spent most of the downtime getting typepad back up ...

The cynical and knowledgeable folks on Slashdot say that even if they have enough to run the racks they don't have enough to run the A/C, so as the temperature rises the racks have to start going down. There were harsh words about moving some server farms from reliable Texas power to SF earthquake zone too. That seems such an obvious fuckup that I am lost for words. One day we're going to lose most everything in SF and Silicon Valley, it's not if, just when.

LJ is a bunch of boneheads? That might be the problem. It's like they come out of their basements and go to work and it's probably just like a smelly basement.
