I see the snow is melting at both
joyofmacs and
estis's. According to our news they each had many feet of snow. But judging from the level of melting I'm thinking that our news may have exaggerated just a hair.
My friend, Jeanie, has a birthday on Dec. 31. Doesn't that suck? Anyway, I always try to pop her a little something into the mail (she lives in Mississippi) the day after Christmas. Today I boxed up my little offering and went to the post office. It was totally empty. No people getting stuff out of their boxes, no line waiting for stamps, nobody even selling stamps. It was funny. I stood at the counter for a while just kind of soaking up the nobody-ness and then hollared out Ho Ho Ho! Pretty soon I hear from the back the voice of one of my favorite post office people 'Oh, no! They're back!!!' It cracked me up.
I was looking at the TV lineup for the next week and a half... abismal. So I reopened my Netflix account. I closed it last Summer because they just couldn't get stuff to me in a timely fashion but they have opened up a warehouse here and one of the guys here says that it is better. We shall see. I have no qualms about watching my 3 movies and then closing the account again.
henaresays he buys all of his. And I thought about that - buy them used, then sell them used. I don't want or need to hang on to any of them for any reason. But, I couldn't find the ones I wanted cheap enough. So we'll try renting again...
Work is fine. I actually did get a big deal done this morning. The company intranet was a mess. The bitch that runs it (er, that would be me) had gotten pretty sloppy about folders and test pages and databases and stuff so I backed it up to a couple of different palces and cleaned it all out, squeaky... It's a lean mean intranet now, baby! And best I can tell, I didn't fuck anything up either.
My Mom got home from my brother's. She reports a fine time was had and now she's exhausted. I had forgotten to worry about her so it's a good thing she didn't need it.
