The morning paper says that Sherri Sheppard and Whoopi Goldberg are in serious contract talks with The View.  Actually the way it was worded it sounded like both had been signed up but the writer got it on background and couldn't say for sure.  I'm ok with adding both of them.  Whoopi and Sherri compliment each other nicely and seem to be nice counter parts to the others.  Assuming the powers who run the show check here daily, I say ... go for it if you haven't already.

Today's game is radio only and starts at 1.  That's my best Get Work Done background noise.  But, unless we go extra innings, I'll probably run out of game before work.

I installed Mozy on the little Lifebook to test and it was painless.  I got an automatic note from Carbonite today telling me my subscription expires tomorrow.  No shit.   Still no answer to my emails.  I did send Mozy a question email - subject line Pre-Sales Question.  No response from them either.  Not so good.  The critical back up is my work laptop and its Carbonite subscription is good for another two weeks.

I think I'll scramble some eggs.  And then I'll get to work.

When did you send the Mozy email, though? Maybe they respond to non-critical stuff on weekdays, if you sent it after COB Friday... Maybe.

I was thinking that myself, that they might be slower to respond on weekends...

I've never done this online backup thing. How much are you backing up, and how often is it done? Is it incremental backups? (which would be easier)

With Carbonite, at least, which I'm using on the desktop, it runs all the time and if you update a file that it should back up, it backs it up. (It can be disabled for a bit, or set to run at lower priority, if you need to do something intensive on the computer, but except for World of Warcraft, nothing's really been affected - WoW objects to the bandwidth usage. ;)

It took Carbonite over a month to complete my first backup, but I had a lot of files in it. Still, I have also been very unimpressed with their customer service, lack of an easy way to see what areas are and aren't backed up (other than by browsing them all), and such.

And I'm a WoW addict, so not sure about that. I don't think I need something that gets backed up RIGHT THAT MINUTE! Maybe at night or something...

And you can pick which drive to back up? If I put everything on the external harddrive, I can just back that up...

Yeah, but then all you have to do is disable Carbonite (it sits in your system tray, so it's just a right-click and menu item) before you run WoW, then enable it after. (You can disable it for a set time, but the set time is 24 hours, so I didn't care for that since it tended to come back on when I was using the computer again!)

Maybe Mozy has better controls; I haven't tried it. Worth checking into maybe?

Yeah, I think it's worth checking into. I'm in the process of backing up all my music, to see how much space I'm using up. :)
