The electricity just went out again.  The big bouncer guy who lives down the hall (he and several other bouncers who bounce across the street at a junk bar) just strolled by and said that this time he head the loud bang outside in front of his bar.  Which is across the street from the construction which is, I'm sure, what caused the outage just like they did on Friday.

They tore down and then blasted the Kingdome just outside my terrace and then built an entire stadium without once interrupting our electricity.  They are in week 4 of this building which is expected to be completed in 2.5 years.  If this is what those 2.5 years are going to be like, I'm going to be a seriously unhappy camper.

Right now, at least, the good half of my unit is still up but I'm sure it will go down before we get the juice back.  Fuck a duck.

At least this time, if it is the Starbucks construction, it is likely that their entire building of workers is in the same non-electrical boat.  As well as other local businesses.  Maybe the piper will need to be paid some hefty fines... or some kind of something to encourage them not to do this any more.

Time to call the city plasnning department - there is no excuse for construction causing any power outages, and my understanding is a construction permit can be revoked if the neighbors complain about service interruptions. City Light or whatever electric company is involved will also scream at construction companies which blow up its transformers or rip up cables, if they get enough complaints.

Excellent! Kind of a shame they won't guarantee applying the Code of the West, but at least they are willing to play connect the dots. Just for my education, who does provide electricity to Seattle these days? I ask because when my mom retired, she was the #2 non-elected person at City Light, and I seem to recall her saying leaving would probably put them out of business. :-)

Well, she retired in 1988, a few things may have changed since then...
