A nice slow work day...
Sep. 4th, 2007 12:38 pmI had a flurry of bugs this morning that I put to bed nicely.
Then I got on the phone to Sharper Image. My Roomba is not dead yet but clearly headed that way. When I got this one (a replacement), I bought a two year replacement guarantee. So I called in my chips. They don't make my model any more so I get store credit. ugh. Ok. They sent me a prepaid UPS label. I packed up Roomba and slapped on the label and took it to Office Depot.
The new Roomba looks pretty sweet so I'm definitely going to get one but where to buy... Costco will have but not yet so no price. Sharper Image has theirs for $359. There are some other options but I realized I didn't have enough info. So I called Sharper Image back to ask how much and when. $333.91 and if I call a couple of days after they get my return, they can look up my credit and I can order then. (Or wait for the thing to come in the mail.) There's really nothing I want from Sharper Image other than Roomba so I'm thinking they are going to get my order and as it turns out, once I think about it, it's a pretty decent deal. I think I paid something like $30 for the replacement guarantee. So I'm basically getting the new model upgrade for $60 plus shipping. That works for me.
I stopped by my favorite teriyaki place to grab lunch. My little Korean friend does not like my new hair cut. I told her it would grow back and she was relieved to hear that. She's so funny.
My favorite earphones have been discontinued. I knew it was a matter of time. They are cheap and need gentle handling. But, I love 'em. I had my bedroom set go out of me last night and had to get into my backup stash. So today I figured I'd order stash replacement. Alas... most places are totally out of stock. But, I found one place. $10 each. I ordered 4.
My brother had earbuds made specially for his ears. He said totally worth it. I might do that one day.
The Mariners play the Yankees at 4. They broke their really really long losing streak by beating the shit out of the Yankees yesterday. It was lovely. Ichiro hit his 200th hit for the year off of Roger Clemens and it was a home run. Even in a year that's been exhausting there have been some sweet sweet moments.

Date: 2007-09-04 08:42 pm (UTC)Earphones! I can never find any that do not bother my ears. But I am also hard on everything. So if you ever find something good that is also hardy, let me know.

Date: 2007-09-04 08:50 pm (UTC)And... yes on the earphones. I like the back of the neck ones but I am nearly totally hardover on MUST have a retractable cord. I also want volume control and I love if they fold up into a nice little package. AND be a bit rugged, please.
The earphones described above have not been invented yet. But if and when they are, I'll find 'em and let you know!!

Date: 2007-09-05 01:51 pm (UTC)I'm very hopeful about the new one. So hopeful, I might not even buy the extra replacement deal.

Date: 2007-09-06 06:35 am (UTC)Based on experience so far, my wife hates earbuds, but I wonder if that's because they don't fit either of her ears at all. Maybe if they fit well she'd like them. If they're not insanely expensive, I might suggest that she give the custom ones a try too, since they're so compact that she might like them if they actually fit her.
