I'm stealing here... [livejournal.com profile] kjaz has a nifty movie rating of $8. I'm just stealing it. Just watched The Rookie and I'm giving it a good $7. Maybe even $7.50. Now, you need to like baseball and you need to think Dennis Quaid is cute (not Hugh Grant Gotta Have Him cute but cute).

I remember the story about Jim Morris from four years ago but I didn't know a lot of the details and he did play for a competitor and I wasn't paying attention. So I really enjoyed the movie. And I am soooo ready for baseball season!!

We watched it last week and really liked it. It was a great story and well done, I thought. I liked the interplay between his wife and the HS team team he coached. More people should have such support from tehir spouse and their students.

Jim Morris actually pitched for Tampa Bay in 1999 and 2000; so it wasn't long ago. He pitched 15 innings, gave up 13 hits, 7 BB, 8 earned Runs, and of his 45 outs 13 were strikeouts. Not bad for a relief pitcher who debuted at the age of 35.

Haven't seen The Rookie, but my first encounter with Dennis Quaid was way back in The Right Stuff. Been a fan ever since.
