Salumi Salami For Me Eventually
Sep. 11th, 2007 12:51 pmWe're supposed to set a record today for highest temperature on this date, but I'm not my usual stressed self over hot weather because our nights are longer and cooler giving the sun a much more difficult time stirring up a fry. When you have long, cool nights and shade in the day, you are good to go. Plus, I know it won't last. So let the temperature rise. I don't care. And my A/C doesn't either. It gets to stay outside of its closet for another week.
I even went up the street for lunch.
We have this great place - Salumi's - a few blocks from here. They have very limited hours (the joke is that they are open on the odd Wednesday from 11-11:15 but the line starts forming at 9)... Old man Salumi is the father of Mario Batali oft seen on Food Network. At least once a month, if you are on the street in my neighborhood, you see very lost middle aged people with a grimy little slip of paper or a newspaper article and if they don't stop you, you can stop them and ask if you can help and they will ask you how to get to the salami place.
Literally, you go to the triangle corner of 2nd where all the busses stop and then go down past the Police Museum and the Bike Rental place and ooops you missed it - go back... Yep, that hole in the wall? That's it.
I don't go often because, honestly, I forget. Lately I've remembered but haven't had the time or space to get there. Today I went. At 11:30 and the line was out to the curb. I stood in line while it doubled behind me for 15 minutes and then devised a new game plan.
I went to the good sushi place and got lunch. I'll go back to Salumi's this afternoon about 3 and get dinner and maybe tomorrow's lunch.
Laundry is done. All is good.
