It's a fabulous fall day here and I'm so enjoying the cool.  I've always loved cold weather but I don't remember ever wallowing in my love of it as much as I have this week.  And Betty's with me all the way.

This is the first time she's ever had cool weather and been the only cat in the house.  She was born for this combo.  She has taken snuggling to new heights.  Last night at lights out, I got under the duvet and curled up on my side and prepared for my trip to dream land.  Before the plane left the station, however, Betty climbed into that sweet spot where my tummy makes the mid part of the C and just settled her silky self right in there with a wonderful sigh.

During the day, when the lap top is not on the top of the lap, Betty is. And I love it.  Even the cat hair she leaves behind.

And speaking of cat hair... the new Roomba is Out For Delivery on the UPS truck the driver of which is making me nuts by not getting here yet.  Does he not know that once he gets here I still will have hours of charging to do before the sucking can begin?????

Work is steady and not so stressful and things are good.  Just good.

Sounds like a really sweet cat. I hope we can find at least one lap kitty. If we're lucky, they both will be. (We want two, because they can keep each other company when we're boring or out. I think I invented this expression: "The best cat toy is another cat.")

We're home most of the time too, so we were around most of the time to entertain Blondie when she was an only cat, and then care for her when she became a sick cat. She appreciated the attention.

Blondie (http://steve98052.livejournal.com/119302.html) didn't show much sign of distress from the loss of our other cat, Sara Dan (http://steve98052.livejournal.com/27201.html), early this year. I don't know whether that was because she had us to keep her company, because Sara Dan slowed down gradually enough (except for a rapid drop-off near the end) that she didn't miss him as much as if he had died suddenly.

It was different for Sara Dan when his litter-mate brother Popoki died; they were only about a year old, and Popoki got sick (urinary blockage and infections) quickly, so Sara Dan didn't have much time to adjust. He was so obviously lonely that we had to get another cat in a real hurry. That's how we got Blondie.

I don't know whether my wife reads your journal, but if she does she'll probably say that we need to meet you and Betty some time. I hesitate to ask, since a couple of weeks of mutual journal-reading is very brief acquaintance, but between cat-lover and Mariners fan it might be fun.

Awwww. I'm thinking Betty likes being The Only Cat, too. And I like how you described the "sweet spot." That's perfect and my favorite kitty snuggle spot, too. Zoe has done it a couple of times, but Kiefer used to sleep there a lot. It's the best, isn't it? :)
