I have got  to get you people a camera phone.  Next week.  As soon as I can find a Virgin Cyclops somewhere, I'm getting it for you.  I just see too much that is gone by the time I dig out my camera, if I even have it with me.

Today you missed Michael Douglas 10 years ago.  Yes.  At the grocery store.  The guy was the spitting image of Michael Douglas 10 years ago.  Of course, since it was him 10 years ago, Catherine was not with him.  But, I swear - spitting image!

Work is clomping along - not too much - not too little.  Just the right amount.  And one thing that has been stressing me out for weeks got totally fixed and better than I could have hoped for.

--

I ran out at lunch to get minor groceries (and see Michael Douglas) and discovered that it's cold!  I had on my usual short sleeved t-shirt and a long sleeve sweater would not have hurt.  Lovely.   And then I realized as I sat there at the stop light thinking about how much I was enjoying the chill... that I have not had a hot flash in days!  Literally days!!  I had a slight feeling of warmth at 9 p.m. (my usual time) the other night but it was no where near a flash and that was two days ago.

I don't think I'm menopausal... I think I'm allergic to Summer!!  I think I need to start planning to spend June, July and August in New Zealand or Australia!

ooops work is beaconing... ha.

I did get a little bag of corn candy to, hopefully, get me through until the after Halloween sales.

Beware!!

The hot flashes are lulling you into a false sense of contentment.
Mine went away for months and then came back with a vengence.
Hopefully yours has put it's tail between it's legs and is running off with a whimper.

Oo! One last thing. My hotflashes lasted for 7 years and I've been flash free since the turkey smacked me in the face.
I do not recommend this remedy.

Reminds me, I need to get another small camera. I have a 3MP camera phone but I think it still sucks, the pictures just aren't anything like as good as a proper camera. Maybe it's because I keep sticking my fingers on the lens and then cleaning it on my jeans?

That used to be a much easier question. I'm thinking of going for one of the small Canon cameras again, they have worked well for me and are convenient to carry. But they aren't a lot better than other options now, so many of the others are very good. My mother is here right now and she needs a camera with a decent sized LCD so she can see what she's taking pictures of, when we take her to the camera shops, probably in NH to save her the tax, I'll look then and see if there's something else I like. Or I could have my second new camera in a week and order the Canon SD1000 from Amazon and have it by Thursday or Friday.

I have some software called Download Pro that reads the memory card and stores the pictures in appropriate sub directories. It does such a good job that I have stuck with it for several cameras. The latest Canon software that came with the 40d yesterday wouldn't even get as far as refusing to install on Vista, it just locked up. Not a great recomendation :-(

My wife has a Razr DG-Gold model, with a 1 megapixel camera. It's pretty cool, as long as you like the Razr design in general. If you set it to put its pictures onto the SD chip instead of the internal memory, you can plug it into a USB port and it's just like a USB memory drive – really handy.

For actual cameras, my favorite data system is a USB chip reader. I have this one (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820609188), which is pretty good, as long as you handle it gently; it's a bit fragile. I got my aunt one too, and she likes it a lot too. (She's not a techie, but she's not afraid of techie stuff.)

In that case, you might want to look for some kind of teeny-tiny phone that's small enough to be carried around all the time, the way you'd do with a cell phone. Here's my camera-phone joke along those lines:

(Click for larger.)

It would be funnier if the devices contrasted better with the duct tape.

I almost always wear clothing with pockets, but they're usually full of stuff other than phones and cameras. My phone goes in a carrier with a clip that hooks to a belt-loop (and would work on a waist-band, but wouldn't be as comfortable). I have a couple of cameras that I carry around at times, but both are quite a bit larger than the phone. One is the Canon S2 IS that was duct-taped (briefly, since I didn't want to goop them up with duct tape adhesive) to the ancient phone in that picture. The other is a Canon Digital Rebel, an SLR that's even larger.

A Casio Exilim would be a great pocket camera. My wife's Kodak (I forget the exact model) is similarly tiny, and she carries it around quite a lot. It's amazing how much better even the small lens of a pocket camera does, compared to the super-tiny lenses in camera phones.

I love candy corn. I have to steer clear of the candy aisle when I go shopping.
