random bits

susandennisI just discovered that my new TV - the one I bought several months ago - has a very cool feachur... I knew that the mute was funky. When I hit mute, I could still hear the sound faintly. I didn't like it but I didn't spend a lot of cycles worry about it. And I didn't investigate.
Today, the Mariners started playing at 4 which was mid-way into my 3:30 conference call. So I turned to the appropriate channel and hit mute but Betty jumped on my arm (4 turns out to also the be the time we generally start whining 'isn't it dinner time yet?????') and I ended up hitting the mute button twice.
Guess what??!!! Once mutes it to way low. Twice mutes it all the way AND turns on the words!! Nice!
Now I realize that I was always also annoyed by having to push mute twice to get the full sound back. I am quick to pick up on so many things and slow as the Comcast Slowsky's to get with the program on others. Sheesh.

unzeugmatic is having a party at my house on Friday night. He sent me a note as he left town today with the final details... there were many humerous bits and Steven never stiffs you on details. But after listing who was coming, he added:
Final tally: 20
Total gay men: 8
Total Brians: 3
(One of the Brians, I believe, is not gay so there is overlap.)

I am now officially on vacation for two days! Tomorrow I am going to start the day (after the gym) with a trip downtown. I want to get the camera phone and there's a new shop that my neighbor, Ann, says I have to check out and I need flowers.

Tonight I may watch the ballgames - it's a double header - but in game one, in the 3rd inning, Cleveland 8 and Seattle 2 - I'm probably going to lose interest really really soon. I can take bad baseball in May but in September, not so much.
