Day off #2 B
Sep. 28th, 2007 01:59 pmEverything is done.
unzeugmatic and crew where here a bit ago to drop off the party eats and drinks. Roomba has been recharged from this morning's front half and is now doing the back half of the condo. And I'm just piddling around.
I did have one final and relationship ending battle with the old desktop. It's too needy and I don't need it. So I'm putting it up for adoption. There's an org here in town that provides computer technical support to non-profit agencies. I've always been impressed with their work and I trust them. I don't want to have to worry about data that lingers on my harddrive nor do I want to drive through hoops to make sure it's all gone forever - so I need someone trustworthy who I know, if they find sensitive left over bits, will respect them. I sent them a note this morning describing the CPU (which is all I'm giving away) and asking if they want it.
I got two lovely replies that they would love to have it so next week, it will go to a new home. I'm glad. It's really silly for me to have it here. It's way more spare computing power than I need and it's pissing me off. I don't need it and someone else does.
I have a new neighbor moving in today from the Congo (at least that's what building manager, Scott, says) !! I don't know if he's Congonese(?) but his moving boxes are all very continental and sexy. And, he got some new pieces delivered today from two of my favorite furniture stores. I think he may need to be my new best friend.
I am really enjoying just piddling around doing this and that. This Day off thing is a good idea - I may do it more often.

Date: 2007-09-29 09:20 am (UTC)I think this summarizes the name history (as known to the outside world) correctly:
Terra Incognita → Congo Free State (in the era of Heart of Darkness) → Belgian Congo → Republic of the Congo → Zaire → Democratic Republic of the Congo

Date: 2007-10-02 01:58 am (UTC)Now... furniture. Wow. I don't know. My living room is a combo of Crate and Barrel and here: http://www.homedecorators.com/search.php?customsearch=soho+furniture&ggkey=soho+furniture+exp&aid=ga.generic&engine=adwords!6384&keyword=%2ASoho+Furniture%2A&match_type=
but I do love many of the shops down on Western from about the Harbor Steps to Pioneer Square.
