One thing I had asked Rosie to help me work on is how to correctly and successfully go from standing to sitting on the floor and reverse that without having to hold on to anything. I do not want to be the 'I've fallen and I can't get up' lady.

I can get down no sweat. But getting up involves some thigh muscles I have never used before.

Those thigh muscles are screaming this morning. And there are some other areas that are harmonizing with the thighs. OUCH!

But the real killer is remembering that it's the second day when stuff really really really hurts. Double OUCH!

The gym opens in 30 mins and I'll be there in hopes that 30 minutes on the treadmill will help. Plus I'm at a really good place in my current audio book - it will be a nice distraction, I hope.

Then, don't tell Travis, but we are going to have some serious nail trimming. I've been able to keep his front paws fairly trim but it's clear that if I want to keep any skin on my arms, the back ones will have to be done, too. He won't be thrilled. My plan is to get him nice sleepy first.

Meanwhile, we're having a lovely morning of coffee, NPR, the newspaper and my LJ Friends page.

I had a friend who could hold out his hand and demand, "Paw!" and his cat would hold out his paw for a trimming. The cat even knew to change paws at the next command.
I miss that kitty.

Wow, our Blondie knew "shake", a trick I taught her because I thought it would be amusing to teach a cat something that's traditionally a dog trick, but if she saw the clippers she'd run like crazy.

Blondie was one intelligent cat.

Yeah, we think she was. And she was a real sweetie too. We miss her. (But our new kittens are wonderful too.) By the way, the cat in your icon here looks remarkably like Blondie, although I don't think she ever saw a box of that brand of beer.

Getting up from sitting on the floor:

1. Lie back
2. Roll over
3. Put hands flat on ground, pull legs up till you are in hands-and-knees position
4. Levitate

As for nail trimming, I've never heard of back paws needing that. What does he have as a scratching post (besides yourself?). Some cats prefer carpeted, some prefer rope.
