I have said this before but I think between now and this time next year, I will feel it more and more strongly every day.

I know of not one single reason why any man should have anything to say about any choice I make about my body unless I chose to share that decision with him.  Abortion is my right and my decision and while a penis is necessary for causing the decision, there is no penis necessary in my decision whether or not to bear children.

Yeah, I'm way past having to decide but I'm pissed about the 40+ years when it was an issue for me and on behalf of women who are still making those decisions.  They deserve to decide who helps them make the right ones for them.

Right to chose is a deal breaker big time and above all else.

Jeez lady, the anti abortion folks I know are all women. I wouldn't want anyone to have what they don't want, women ain't cattle that you can breed.

The power hungry need to say what they think the concerned mothers of middle america will vote for... so that they can get the chance to do what the hell they like instead. Not that George and his pals don't think you should be knocked up and stuck with it, but I don't trust them enough to expect them to do even the things I don't want for the reasons they state.

Rudy J used to be a gun control type, but now he wants the gun owners vote so he's a strict 2nd amendment type. In the end they are a faithless crowd of power hungry bastards.

Believe it or not, as a man I would agree with you entirely. While I personally am opposed to abortion, and were I in a situation where my mate was considering one I would ask her not to do so, ultimately its her body and her decision, and I would abide with and support her in what ever that decision is.

To me, it speaks *volumes* on the issue when one realizes that 70 percent of the membership of "Right To Life" is male. And although I'm not sure on this part, I'd be willing to bet money that a great majority of that remaining 30 percent membership that is female are women who will never have to face that decision, like nuns and those who cannot have children any longer.

My attitude on this is one of the two reasons I'm probably considered a bad Buddhist. Number two is ain't nobody taking away my steaks!

And actually, if one wants to really get blunt about it, a penis is no longer necessary in causing the decision either.

70%? Didn't know that. Makes me wonder what they think gives them the right to tell other people what to do.

I can answer that one. They think their religion(s) give them the right to force their idea of morality on everyone.

When my ex gets too enthusiastic about her religious beliefs I tell her "judge not, lest ye be judged". The so called 'christians' could all do with remembering that one. Then I tell her she'd going straight to hell because she isn't a catholic and then we don't talk for a few weeks.

Sadly and bizarrely, a number (perhaps a small minority, as you suppose, but not an insignificant one) of that 30 percent are women who *have* had abortions and who have even had abortions between bouts of protesting at the clinics. Seriously. Ask any abortion clinic worker.

I can think of any number of reasons why this would be so, but at a deep level I really can't comprehend this.

I grew up in a right-to-life Catlickā„¢ family. As in card carrying memberships. When I registered to vote I registered for the RTL party in NY. *shudder*

I even stoopidly shunned a good friend in high school who exercised her choice. One of the most shameful things I've ever done.

Don't "believe" in abortion? Don't have one. Otherwise fuck off.

if it were men who had to actually birth and raise the babies there would be abortion clinics lining the streets like 7-11's.

Applause. But as far as guiding my votes, it seems to be a moot point anyway, because the anti-choice politicians are wrong on plenty of other issues too.
