SMILE

I left here after my shower and went to 13 Coins for my eggs benedict.  The waiter is not my favorite but at least he was a little better this time.  He remembered me and that I had a bloody mary last week.  He asked if I wanted one today and I explained it was too big.  He sympathized and said that they had not added it to the children's menu yet buy maybe they should.  I settled for coffee.

The meal was delicious and I enjoyed it thoroughly.  After, it was time to hit the library to pick up my hold.  I stopped at the little market nearby after that and picked up two batches of my favorite tiny chocolate chip muffins.  (A couple of them with coffee in the mornings is a nice little breakfast.) 

I was standing in line with my muffins on the checkout counter when this really nice looking guy somewhere in between 20's and my age came up  behind my with his handful (milk, toilet paper, some fancy drink that looked like apple  juice and a giant flower of fresh broccoli).  He put his stuff down and gave me a huge smile and said 'If I don't use one of of those separator things, you'll have to pay for my stuff!'  I countered that I thought the rule was that the second person had to pay.  We bantered back and forth and he told the checkout clerk that he was buying mine and he looked at me and said 'no argument for you, either!'

I thanked him and he told the clerk 'Give her a Smile pin - she has a great smile'.  So the clerk hands me a nice button - white with a big red letters that says "SMILE"!  I pinned it right on and smiled all the way home.

At the bottom of the pin is the URL www.smile-video.com and when I went to the URL, I saw my grocery buying broccoli eating new friend!

You are taunting me on purpose, aren't you? 13 coins is my very favoritest place evah. It's where I learned what antipasto is. And the omlettes are to die for. Or was it to kill for? I forget. Friends of my big sister took us there in '68 when it was still new and mostly unknown. It was the first classy place I'd ever been to without my parents.

My friend, John, took me therem my first week in Seattle. We used to have Christmas dinner there every year. Saturday bruch there is my new ritual.
