No Betty

I've been home a half dozen times looking and listening and nothing. This morning when I was wandering through the house calling for her, Jake was at my heels the whole time. He has since lost interest in the hunt. He's been on the bed napping all day. I come in, I call for her and he doesn't move. He's such a lazy slug and now he doesn't have her messing with him.

I called the place that put the chip in and they said that all the vets in the area look for the chip first and will call them. I put a flyer up at the condo with her picture on it. [livejournal.com profile] melodysk pointed out correctly that Betty has been exhibiting some different behavior recently and that's really true. Sunday night she curled up under my chin and snuggled in as I was going to sleep and she'd never done that before. And she'd been really picking on Jake a lot more than usual. And there was that vase she attacked... Maybe taking a flying leap off the terrace is part of it all.

I will say this... Jake may well get his wish to be an only cat. I can't take this - first Pizza and now Betty. This sucks.

I'm really sorry hon - I know I'd be really miserable if something happened to one of my cats. I hope she shows up soon *hug*.

Oh crap - I'm so sorry! What is up with all the animal behavior lately?? Sheesh.

Have you checked in all the cabinets, drawers, closets, hampers, etc, where she could crawl (I'm sure you have). Viper once got herself in a middle drawer of my desk, it got shut and she was stuck and I couldn't find her for over a day. She has a terribly quiet meow and once she got dehydrated - it was all over. I just happened to notice that part of her tail fur was showing.

It seems odd that a cat would jump off a ledge that tall unless the hounds of hell were after them. She just might have figured out a way to get up or down a story - they can do such amazing agile things.

I hope she turns up soon. I had a cat for 18 years that never went outside. She was deathly afraid of being without a ceiling. One day, she just disappeared and I think that someone either left a door open or a window or something. Anyway, she was gone for over a week! And I was SURE that something horrible had happened and she was just this poor and pitiful little cat that had no skills whatsoever (I had gotten her when she was only 4 weeks old). She turned up about a week later crying at the front door and was just fine and dandy. I think she just went out to find herself. Maybe Betty did too and she'll be back soon. ::fingers crossed::

One of the only bad things about being a pet owner is that they don't quite understand your attachment to them when they are making decisions about what to do next. It does suck.

::big hug::
