The full lunch report
Jan. 29th, 2008 12:39 pmLunch at Skillet Street Food
What a fun adventure. And as much as I love a routine, I think I know what I'll be doing every Tuesday about 11:45ish...
It was freezing fucking cold with a nice brisk wind thrown in for those of us who do not chill easily. The trailer (which is an airstream on a flat bed trailer) is parked in the alley between warehouses. The place is so run down and back alley that the graffiti is about 1990's vintage. The skillet folks and my fellow customers are likely the only people back there in the last decade without hard hats.
And in the middle is this trailer with steam coming out the side and popsicle people waiting in line for the goodies. Two women took orders and money and passed the orders up through the little window.
seattlejo your guess of the burger was exactly what I set out to get BUT they had a problem with the hood vent so there were no burgers... I got (and what's in the food picture):
lemongrass pork Sammy, red cabbage and ginger slaw, cilantro aioli, brioche, handcut fries
And... it was heaven. I sat in the car, grateful to be out of the wind, and pigged out. I wish I had had room for more.
Just as my lunch was ready, they fixed the vent and added burgers to the menu. Next week.
