Any Scots out there?

Is this some kind of Scottish holiday? There is a guy on the corner out my terrace who is, in full kilt outfit, playing the bagpipes all by himself. Not another soul there. He is standing on the corner in front of a restaurant named McRorys. The place has been there since forever and often have celebrations of things but they generally do it with big crowds on weekends and/or at least in daylight when the temperature is somewhere above the 45 degrees it is out there now.

Quite curious.

My neighborhood is a never ending source of entertainment.

I am part-Scots, but nothing leapt to mind. But a quick google search turned up that this is the anniversary of the defeat of the British army in the second battle of Falkirk in 1746. Before the Jacobites lost permanently at Culloden several months later.

Damn! I miss that one every year. Life without Google wouldn't be nearly as much fun, would it?

No, I can't imagine how we survived without Google. I remember AltaVista and the others and none of them came up to this standard.

And you would think I would remember the second battle of Falkirk since it lands on my daughter's birthday. :-)
