[livejournal.com profile] aellia cleaned out her pantry cupboards and it made me remember that I need to do the same.  I've kind of got Morman like tenancies to stockpile food with in determinant shelf life.   I'm not sure what calamity I'm saving for and I am fairly sure that when the big earthquake hits my first, second or even eleventh thought will not be 'oh thankgod I have spaghetti-o's!'  And, even I who have no fear or disdain for processed foods, or high sodium foods, or even silly foods,  don't remember the last time I opened up a can of spaghetti-o's.

I did throw out a can that had rust around the bottom of it the other day but more needs to be done.  So for lunch today, I hit the pantry.  consequently, I'm having they most delightful Garlic Rice Noodle Soup Bowl from Trader Joe's.  But here's the down side.  It was the only one of its kind in there and its so good, I'm now thinking I need go to to Trader Joe's and get more.  That's not going to bode well for cleaning out the pantry!

I'm trying not to read who won Project Runway.  Last time they had the winner on the front page of the newspaper.  Today, no mention.  Must have been Christian.  I'll watch tonight and see.

Meanwhile Kim Myles - the winner of the last Top Design - has her new show starting soon.  TiVo has been informed.

Seriously, these noodles are the best.  Crap.  I do not need to go to Trader Joe's - I'll just spend too much money and run out of pantry room.  Crap.

Sherry and Lee were in Mexico a couple of weeks ago with Sherry's sister and sister's husband.  Sherry and Lee really like spending time with these two.  They just moved from LJ to Palm Beach - new house, new jobs and the Mexico trip was kind of a wild fling before settling in.  Last Friday, Sherry's sister found her husband in a chair - dead from heart attack.  I cannot imagine what Rhonda must be going through.   He was two years younger than I am.

Work is coming in fairly steadily today and I have a conference call at 1.  Better get back to it.

Maybe you can write down the product info for the noodles, and anything else delightful you find in there. Then you can promise yourself a store run to get those things when the pantry is cleared of all the random stuff.

And I am so sad for Sherry and Lee and Sherry's sister.

Were you in Seattle for the 2001 earthquake in February?

I loves me some Kim Myles! There is something so charming and lovely about her expressive face.

As long as it's organized .. Who cares if you stock-pile .. It may just come in handy:)

WOW! I knew your location was one of the hardest hit. The photos reinforce that ... I was onstage in a rehearsal at the 5th Avenue Theatre for "1776". I just remember thinking .. "1776" doesn't have special effects, as the deck of the stage was moving sideways under my feet. I ran out a side door of the building with six others, covered in white dust. The building's managers led us to a safe location across the street. Surprisingly, the first calls through to me were my friend Tim in SF and my folks in Texas. Local lines were tied up, as you know.

I agree with you about both David and Kim. David's pretty, but it's an empty pretty. He does a good job with the design, but there's still something lacking in his television presence. Kim is going to be hugely successful. Her immense good will as a human being shines through in everything she touches.

HUGS!

Garlic regret...

Evidently last night in my sleep my 16yo got me to agree to trade my TJs garlic rice noodle bowl for a carton of satay. I didn't remember until it was too late to renege. Alphabet soup for dinner for me.

(Aside - Evidently I agree to lots of irresponsible things while asleep. I got the 15yo that way, but she's a cool and funny person so no regrets there.)

Anyway, speaking of shelf-stable TJ's stuff, they have these colorful shrink-wrapped cartons of really good vegan Asian entrees - pad thai, satay, and kung pao. Perfectly sized, nicely packaged, and you don't even need to add water. Shelf-stable and STYLISH. We found them near the rice noodle bowls. Might be worth asking about if you can handle the vegan part.

You crack me up - still chuckling at the thought of anyone thinking 'thankgod I have spaghetti-o's' when an earthquake hits! :-)
