I'm thinking bifocals.  I love seeing but I hate looking up and getting fuzzy.  I've ordered bifocals and we'll see if those work better.  I do think there is a vision answer in all these options - one just for me.  But, I haven't quite found it yet.

Plus, it is hard to get used to wearing glasses all day long after 59 years of not wearing them.  I'm wearing a hole in the bridge of my nose and behind my ears needs a break.

That's day one...

Get as big frames as you can stand. It'll make the bifocals much easier to use and you won't see the edge of the frame as much.

If you get progressive bifocals then you have various middle-ground options. These days I usually take them off for computer use but if find that when I keep them on it is somewhere in the middle that is right. One of the downsides of progressive is that because of the optics there is bit of distortion on the edges and I've found that having smaller lenses actually helps counteract that. I am not in the least bit conscious of the frames themselves.

I have graduated (no lines) trifocals, I love them. Since you have never worn glasses before, it makes it even easier to get used to the graduated lenses, I am told. I had not worn glasses before I got mine and I really like them.
Also, if they hurt you, they need adjusting. You should be able to wear them all day long without them bothering you.

Definitely get those puppies adjusted, should help with the irritation where they rest (especially the behind-the-ears part). Good luck with the bifocals part - so far I have only needed a single lens for everything (though I admit the font size in this comment box is another question entirely - good thing I only have to type, not read it!).
