Snotty Kitty
Feb. 3rd, 2003 03:29 pmThis is not to be confused with Happy Kitty - the one without the mouth. Nope, snotty kitty is just what the name implies. Jake with a runny nose and maybe runny mouth. Last night I woke up to sneezing. Now, Betty's always been a pretty good sneezer. And when I first got her, her nose used to run a lot. But, lately, while she's still sneezing, her nose doesn't run like it used to.
Last night I'm hearing sneezing and it's in stereo. Jake's sneezing - a lot. This morning I wake up and he's still sneezing and now he's got liquid - fortunately clear, non-slimey liquid - all over his whiskers. I went home at lunch and he's napping on the couch and there's that stuff all over the couch (who's slip covers I just washed yesterday...).
So I called the vet and took him in. Of coruse, the vet can find nothing wrong with him. $50 for visit plus antibiotics and we're home. At least I know it isn't obviously fatal. And, hopefully, he'll be all cured soon.
Jake is such a love. On a good day he has less energy than I do. If he slows down any, he's a door stop. Nothing worries him, nothing stresses him. If you give him a scratch behind the ears, he's very grateful. If you don't, he understands. He never hides. He never goes where he shouldn't or does what he shouldn't. He's 14 years old and 25 pounds and his worst habit is climbing onto my lap and then walking around in a circle to find a good spot meanwhile digging holes in my thighs.
Good Old Jake.

Not too bad - I usually don't escape the Vet without writing a $100 check. But family members must be taken care of!
