I got all caught up!!  There will be more tomorrow but for now, I'm all caught up.  Whew.  Tomorrow is the gym problem - no place for me to do my exercises until after 7:30 when the yoga class is over.  I think I'll just sleep in and go at 7:30 tomorrow.  Luxury!

I want a small, attractive, stereo system.  am/fm radio, CD changer, remote control.  Black or close to it.  Everything I see or find is too big or too garish.  This Bose system is perfect in every way except price...  Do I really have to pay $650 to get what I want?  I'm sure this sounds wonderful but I don't need wonderful sound, just small and not ugly. 

I have one that works fine but it is so ugly that I have to keep it hidden and in an inconvenient place which makes the remote is useless and the controls hard to get to.  grrrrrrrrr

I think maybe you and I have different definitions of small. I could not find any on either one of their sites that was both small(like the Bose is small) and had a CD changer and was not butt ugly.

i bought one of these (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000MSOC22/henrycharlesm-20) last year when it was on sale for $50 ... just a tad too big for the application i wanted it for.

I may have a different definition of "not ugly" than you, but using my definition, systems like what you describe are readily available here for under $100.

Yeah, I think the not ugly maybe the showstopper. My preference would be for built in speakers all one color (black) and small. The Bose is the only one I can find.

Sangean WR-3 (http://www.sangean.com/product.php?model=WR-3&prod_id=43)? Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Sangean-WR-3-Digital-Table-Radio/dp/B000OLPYKG) has it for about $260.

It has a slot-load CD player rather than a changer, and whether you would find it attractive or not I don't know. Otherwise it seems to fit the bill.

Not only are your entirely correct, the more I look at it and its PDF's, I'm thinking that I could actually get off my ass and change my own CD's! This is nice. Thank you!

And, in fact, I just ordered it! (Amazon charges sales tax to WA residents so I found another vendor and secured one for $257 with shipping.)
