Hey are those new shoes??
Jul. 17th, 2008 11:55 amThe laundry revealed that someone has caused holes in my wonderful gym socks. I had noticed they weren't as wonderful as when I first bought them. Time for replacements.
With the sun still hiding and the little breeze, it dawned on me that right this minute might be my only window of opportunity to get to the shoe store in any comfort until after Labor Day! So off I went.
The store is about a 10 minute walk from here. It was fairly pleasant. Humid but not fry your ass hot. They had my socks and I got three pair. And then I remembered shoe strings which drew a very blank look - "you mean shoe laces?" She had never heard them called shoe strings. Love language.
The shoe lace discussion led to shoe lasting discussion and when I told her how I used my shoes and for how long she suggested that it was time to start thinking replacement. I had figured when they fall apart, I'd get new ones. She explained that not even wear on the bottom was a good indicator. She said at my rate, I should think about replacing once a year. I was standing in 18 month old shoes.
So I got new shoe laces IN new shoes!! The minute I put my feet in them, I knew she was right. My feet were doing a very happy dance.
