not fuzzy any more...
Jul. 21st, 2008 03:47 pmThe Comcast lady called me about 10 minutes out which was nice. She started off with a bit of a 'tude and it went downhill when she eye'd my rats nest of splitters and boosters and more splitters. But, I worked on her and got her better. I suggested we unhook and bypass everything - go from the wall to the TV and fix it there and then we could rehook.
I took her down to Scott's office where the Comcast stuff is and she went to work. It was a very tough fix and, while many of the connections were, in fact, loose, probably the main culprit is the feeder box that belongs to the camera. Turns out that breathing on it makes the picture go bad. She managed to wedge it behind something to stabilize and Scott was there to see and understand.
Then she got up here and we tested a few different variations on my splitter situations but none turned out to work as well as my original configuration. She was not happy with the quality but it is far far better than it has ever been so I'm happy.
It all worked out beautifully and we talked internet as well. Problem there is that there is no cable outlet anywhere near the computer so everything would have to be wireless. It's an option if Qwest ever pisses me off beyond repair.
The bottom line is that now, if you come to the front door of my building I'll be able to tell you about how many days old that zit on your nose is. Nice.
------
Work has been a little weird today. Nothing most of the morning and then several different fire drills. Then nothing. My boss called today and said that by next week things should be on a more even keel. I'm cool with whatever.

Anybody know how to restore an archived calendar in Outlook 2003? I need to replace the current version with the archived version and I'll be darned if I can figure out how or get any google joy on the situation. It's for Scott. He does not have that many things and most are recurring so recreating won't be that much of a hassle and I'll be glad to do it for him but it would be better if I could just swap 'em.

Date: 2008-07-22 07:37 pm (UTC)He did have an archive.pst but that turned out to be not the issue at all. Once I had my not-fried-by-the-heat thinking cap on, I realized it was a very simple View issue. sub 1 minute fix. He's very happy.
Thank you, for popping in, tho. Yesterday afternoon, I just could not see it. Geeesh.
