The net is that he thinks the pain is from grinding one tooth so much that it is loose and worn the nerve.  Seriously.  He shaved off a bit of it and the end.

I was such a basket case.  I nearly broke the arm of his chair.  He was lovely and pretty and calm and kind.  His assistant and the rest of the office people were as nice as if I was not a Certified Nut Case.

They took an x-ray and he asked me a bunch of questions and poked and banged on the three teeth in the area and could not find anything but the looseness.  He said that he was going to 'relax' the bite.  I told him to quit using squishy words for scary stuff.  He laughed.  And then preceded to go at my tooth with something that sounded horrible and looked terrible (like the drill) and did not hurt a bit.  The assistant did have to remind me to breathe a couple of times but that was it.

He said it might take a couple or 3 days for the hurt to go away and if it did not, to let him know.  He said that he really wasn't sure what the alternative was.  He said it was probably root canal but he didn't know which tooth!

So... there you have it.  All that drama for nothing.  I am exhausted and so relieved.  The woman at the reception desk asked me if I was ever going to let them clean my teeth and I explained that I would need sedation and had issues with getting someone to escort me home.  She said that if I did it on a Friday, she'd take me home herself if I had a neighbor she could hand me off to.  My neighbor, Ann, would do that in a heartbeat.

And that may be it.   All that is left is to write a thank you note to the dentist and his staff for being such a high maintenance silly.  That maybe all there is to the whole feakin' thing!   Talking about dodging a bullet.  Wonder what karmic price this will end up being??

Maybe this was your Karmic payback for something good you did? Think positive....

That's good news - fingers crossed the hurt goes away now. And a bonus that you'll have someone to drive you home if you have a Friday appointment. Hopefully you won't need to take advantage of that offer too many times, but it's nice to know the option's there.

I'm sure they get much worse Certified Nut Cases than you all the time.

A couple of years ago the dentist determined that [livejournal.com profile] jwg was grinding his teeth at night, so now he wears a mouth guard at night.
