Stupid?

I hope I have not done something stupid.  On Wednesday, the dentist declared my sharp dental pain as probably coming from grinding and clenching. He shaved off the edges that were being ground against by the other teeth.  He told me it would take 3 or 4 days for the pain to go away.

His assistant is the one who mentioned the mouth guard.  I am now thinking that it would have been smarter to have waited.  I thought about it but dismissed that thought.  Maybe not such a good idea.

Tonight my face - above the 3 teeth that may be causing the problem - is beginning to hurt.    Very possibly it is because the tooth is no longer grinding and it settling into it's space to fasten itself down again.

OR it could be something horrible that the dentist did not catch and will involved redoing the teeth in my head and rendering the mouth guard that I have not even gotten yet, a total waste of $500.  I just took two Ibuprofen and now I am going to work on ignoring it.

Fingers crossed!

Any sinus issues right now? Those can also create a feeling of pain in the upper mouth area that I have mistaken for tooth pain more than once.

Weather changing outside? I get horrid pain from that especially in my jaw. I can tell ya when it's going to rain around here.

My teeth used to grind together and I would get bits shaved off of them, but I don't remember what I did to help. My jaw has so many flipping issues that was sucha small thing.

I hope it gets better!

i get that about 2x/year

we do the x-ray, the dentist sees my godawful infected sinuses along with the area around the roots of those teeth, and writes me a script for whatever antibiotic is fashionable that day. much easier than getting an appt at my m.d. to get this sort of thing sorted out.

Oh, my. I hope it's not abcessing. Watch for swelling and get on that phone first thing if you see anything. I would imagine, though, that the mouthguard will still be a good thing!

Ibuprofen is the best thing for that kind of pain, though. I hope it helps. :/
