I forget how slow upload times are on this account because I usually only upload small web pages.  But, today I have 3GB's of ripped audio books that I am uploading so my brother can download and oh, baby, it is slow.  It's so slow that my main web hosting company timed out at the very thought.  Happily, I have another that is patiently taking the stuff now.  It will be tonight or tomorrow before it is finished, I think.

My investment guy called today.  I feel so sorry for him these days.  His practice has morphed into kind of a boutique.  He does not have a lot of clients so he gives us all very special handling.  If there is nothing going on or no decisions that need to be made, he calls once a month to check in.  I'm sure these days these calls suck eggs.  I try not to worry about the state of my finances - I have so much more than most and it's for the future and, fortunately, the future isn't here yet so worrying about it now is silly.  Plus, it is what it is.  My fretting over it is not going to change one penny.  I'm in the best possible hands and so grateful.  I just thank him a million times and try hard to make him glad that this call is to me and not to some whiny crabby person.  I think I did fine today.

Gloria Steinem is in the area at a writers retreat working on a book.  The local NPR station had her in today for an interview.  I love hearing her talk.  She's seen it all and is still so hopeful.  And she's so articulate.  I remember hearing her in the early 70's when she was one of the very few voices of reason in my life.

Today, the guy interviewing her - I think it was Steve Scher - was amazing.  He had the most unusual and greatest questions.  And he listened to her answers and reformed his interview as they went along.  It is very rare that I ever hear an interviewer do that magnificent a job.  I was in the car on the way to Fred Meyers and then I had to sit in the parking lot in the broiling sun until they were done.  Well worth it.  I sent an email to the program's address.

Travis is napping here on the desk and Betty is tucked in her drawer in the fish bed.  All is right here at SDHQ

You know, I have perfectly cute little cats here in my house. I don't need to be melting over the sweet little curled up tummies of other people's cats. But OMG, cute.
