Friday dribbles
Sep. 5th, 2008 10:10 amYesterday was a mess work-wize. The main publishing system fell down in bits and pieces so it was hard to know when it was safe to edit and nothing was going live. All day. I ended up getting a whole lot done but it just took lots of (billable :)) hours.
This morning, everything is fixed and it took me about 5 minutes to make sure and then send out notes and return bugs to those who really cared.
Now I'm work free for at least the moment.
---
I see Chrome has added spell check! thank you!! gimme form filling and we'll be friends for a long time.
---
I'm preparing to clone my Lifebook hard drive. I found an old USB drive big enough. But it was not NTFS so I'm formatting it now and then I'll start the clone. Once that kicks off, I am going to head out to the library and the grocery store and I'm not sure where all else. Oh Office Depot.
It's supposed to get up to the 80's today so I want to get out and back in before hot. Next Monday looks like the last hot day of the Summer. Whew.
My dream is to be one of those old ladies who can never get warm. My Mom finally made it but not until she was well past 70. I am a bit of an over achiever on some things, though. Maybe next Summer?

The main publishing system fell down in bits and pieces
I am humming along with some of the words of my favorite filk song bouncing around in my brain:
When I was a boy our IS shop
Built relational tables from wood,
And we wrappered our data in oilcloth
To preserve it the best that we could.
And we carried our bits in a bucket,
And our mainframe weighed 900 tons,
And we programmed in ones and in zeros
And sometimes we ran out of ones.
