Nothing exciting...

Work is slow this morning so I'm doing my usual piddling.

First stop today was my LJ theme. legalmoose got me looking at word press themes and that set me off. I'm not that concerned with how my own journal looks (beyond dressed nicely) but I spend a whole lotta time on my friends page and I demand that it be lovely at all times. I'm so bored with the standard LJ themes. While colors and background pictures have changed, the basics have remained the same since S2 came out years ago. Yawn.

So I ventured out into css land and discovered that a lot of very creative people have been working hard and sharing. Now I have a theme which does not look like crap in Chrome and does not break when my friends post pictures that are too wide and one that I think will work for awhile.

Then I did some work on my finances and bill paying. I actually need to do some laundry but that would involve getting off my ass. Oh, wait, it's lunchtime. That will involve getting off my ass, too. Maybe I can do a twofer.

The sun is out which is usually terror for me but it is blessedly cool and the sun isn't changing that so I'm fine if it wants to hang out for a while.

Conf call at 1 and one at 2. Better go q-tip my ears.

Where did you go hunting for themes? I've been mulling over changing mine for a while now but wasn't thrilled with what I found on LJ.

I used to have a very nice one in S1, but when I switched to s2 I never got around to figuring out how to make a custom one again (one of these days I'll do that, along with all those other random projects I have floating around ;).

After spending hours this weekend and this morning pouring over the LJ options thinking that surely I must be missing something (I wasn't), I finally googled!

Yep, googled livejournal+themes and livejournal+layouts and found a surprising number of options both on lj and off.

The one I have now, I found at http://community.livejournal.com/thefulcrum/

I only tweaked two things (text font bumped up and comment label font bumped down). On the up side, most all of the offerings have dirt simple recipes for installation and most of them rely on fairly simple stylesheets.

Heh, ok now I feel braindead. For some reason I do the same thing, I keep thinking LJ exists in a vacuum and it didn't even cross my mind to google for something like that.

Way to make things harder than necessary huh? Thanks for the help though, I think I'll go look for a new theme after work today.
