Today I went trolling for some new LJ reads. Again I am stymied by locked entries. I get it but it's frustrating. Generally, I search on people over 40. Or no age limit but some geographical limit - like Oklahoma. Or people with Tivo or Roomba in their interests. Or I troll through friends of friends. There are a lot of people who are friends of friends who list Tivo or Roomba as an interest. I kept running into the same people.

I rarely directly post a question but I will today. I'm looking for suggestions of new Live Journals to read.

I'd like to not slog through lots of memes.

I'd rather not have to beg 'entry'. When someone requires that you ask to be friended, and then you decide you aren't that interested, it's just not pretty. So I steer clear of asking.

But, otherwise, I'm open. Who ya got? Who's journal do I need to read, please?

Thanks.

[livejournal.com profile] guiser1 ... typically one entry daily, illustrated and presented in New Century School Book type. a little edge now and then. fairly eloquent.

Yeah, that's the thing, how do you even know you want to read someone's journal if you can't, you know, read their journal?

And what an ego-blow if you comment on one of those "comment here if you want to be added" threads, and the person doesn't add you!

I second Mactavish.

Zeppo is also a must-read. She doesn't post as often as she used to, but they're always wonderful.

We already have a lot of people in common!

I third [livejournal.com profile] mactavish - another person that I have a lot of friends in common with.

[livejournal.com profile] kimberlychapman is an inventive knitter who is passionate about green living and I get cool geeky links from her. She was previously friendlocked due to an issue that has been resolved, but I think she's posting open entries again.

You might want to check out [livejournal.com profile] copperwise - not sure if you'll hit it off or not. You already have the others I considered recommending friended, so.... ;)

Huh? When I go there, I see posts, and no lock icons...and copperwise doesn't have me friended, either.

Part of my 110 bloglines, most of which I don't even read weekly. She's hilarious.

I really enjoy reading [livejournal.com profile] evilegg. A lot of her stuff is locked, but some is open, possibly enough to get a feel of whether the rest is worth a request to read it.

I'm a lurker, but yours is actually one of my favorites (literally - saved on my WIN "favorites") to check when I'm net-wandering on lazy weekends and such. Sadly, I don't have much to offer in return - I'm a moody 30 something and my loyalties vary between LJ and MySpace - with no pattern or method to my madness or blogging frequency.

Anyway...

Do you like to look at pictures? This guy's stuff is amazing - I like him for 1) his pics, and 2) his blogging, when he does it.

Enjoy - keep posting, I dig it!
