My deliveries are in!  I have a lovely new purple fleece vest which fits perfectly.  It came in a UPS box delivered by FedEx.  It did not look confused but I was.

And then I got a new humidifier.  A bigger one.  Way bigger and way more penguiney.  Check this dude out!  He's cracking me up.  The little egg shaped thing next to it is my old one.  Assuming the penguin works great, I'll put the little on on the shelf for now.  I may move the penguin to his own table, he's really too big for the night stand.

Later: replaced the photo cause I had the penguin's head on backwards! I did get him his own table. We're cool now.

The third delivery was my replacement harddrive to replace the replacement that replaced the ...  Today's model is a Seagate and replaces the last Western Digital I will ever buy.  It's in.  Vista welcomed it into the fold and told RAID that it was ok to accept this new guy.  Now RAID is giving it its orientation.  And the message I'm seeing is that Redundancy is being Restored.  I like that.

I'm trying my best to do my part in making the economy better.  I do think that some of these merchants could have slipped candy corn into their packages.  It looks like I'm going to have to burn some fuel this afternoon to replenish my supply.

Hmm, I'm glad I mirrored my terabyte WD drives, but I wish I'd held off a few weeks until I noticed the trouble you've had. But then when I wasn't actually looking for hard drives I wouldn't have paid enough attention, probably.

Did you post the picture link in rich text mode? It shows the links instead of the image with a link to flickr. Sorry ;-)

I have disaster envy, I'd like a hard drive failure so I can watch it recover. I could fake it with a spare drive... but is it worth $100 for another terabyte drive, just to see it recovered? No. Not this year.

Love the penguin and the little table, I could use 'em both. Except I already have an industrial strength humidifier which doesn't stand a chance against my 12' high vaulted ceiling.

Good luck with RAID. Since I switched to Seagates I haven't had any trouble which I didn't cause myself.

All it takes to zap a hard drive in a RAID array is power PC off and on a few times in a row - power off by holding down the power button, not with a graceful shutdown.

The humidifier is way cool.

I do think that some of these merchants could have slipped candy corn into their packages.

Last night I was in Petsmart and they were giving out goodie bags. It had things in it for both dogs and cats. It included two packs of sample dog food, some greenies, a big veggie gunk-filled bone and a few other things for cats. Melody loved the bone.
