Ugly start but better

I was at my desk at 5:30 a.m. today because one of the fuckchops had a teensy weensy product delivery problem.

The fun part was that I know he did it on purpose - held on to his stuff in order to make me late with mine. I got in at 5:30 and had it all done by the time he sauntered in at 8:15. It was all due for an 8:30 am. meeting. His boss, we'll call him Fuckchop #1 remarked at the meeting that the Fuckchop #2's work was not yet up on the intranet. Everyone looked at me since this is my job and I just smiled and said sweetly 'oh, yes it is.' This was backed up by one of the field reps on the conference call saying at the same time 'it's there, I got it a half hour ago.'

I'm sure these two assholes are still scratching their head on how this happened. It was well worth the early hour. Plus I intend to take the time off the back end of the day.

My contacts got here from 1-800-Contacts. I sent in the bill to the insurance. I'm harboring no delusions that they will actually pay but it's fun to annoy them.

Last night one of the local TV news stations was reporting maybe snow at sea level (that would be me) on Wednesday. I know they were just screwing with me but I enjoyed it anyway.

LJ was really giving me fits this morning but it seems to be fine now. It must just be a rough Monday for everyone except suifu.

No fair. You might get snow. All we have down here is cold. Temps in the low twenties at night, but no moisture available to make snow.

Oh, yes. You cannot imagine how much I miss it. Not.

I always thought the primary function of a good manager was to keep the crap off his or her workers. And the last few years at Tek/Xerox, I had two levels of management above me who did just that. So my only problems were with the marketing twits who snuck in around the edges....

Spent most of the morning cleaning out my bookshelf and closet - yikes - hard to believe how stuff piles up over time. Cooked a roast for dinner with some very good horseradish/mustard sauce. Not a bad day - we'll see if tomorrow measures up.

The last time I got laid off, I spent the first week doing closets and drawers and my storage area. It was so luxurious to have the time and get it done. The second week I made a 8ft by 3ft quilt wall hanging out of my old t-shirts. Then I ran out of stuff and it went downhill. Now I keep a "next time I get laid off" list. I'm ready.
