2 of my favorite non-LJ reads

Ken Jennings' blog is about half trivia stuff which generally does not interest me but he has such a great writing style and a wonderful wit that I try not to miss an entry.

Today he points out that come next week - assuming Florida behaves - we will have elected a left handed president.

... Senators Obama (”There isn’t a left-handed and a right-handed America! There’s just a United States of America!”) and McCain (”My friends, there were five years of my life when I was unable to use either hand!”)

One of the prettiest and unusual blogs/diaries I read consistently is Jeffrey Friedl's. He is an American living in Japan with his Japanese wife and his 6 year old multicultural son, Anthony. Jeffrey, besides being a fun Dad, is a magnificent photographer. And of course his subjects - Anthony and Japan are rich. It's worth a peek. Do it.

Ken Jennings, as in the Jeopardy guy?

I was canvassing last weekend with a leftie. I asked him if he'd noticed that they were both left handed, and he hadn't. I had. I usually had left handed best friends growing up. I couldn't tell you how proud I was when I found out Charlie is a leftie. He has great things ahead of him.

My father was left handed. He always made a big and funny deal about it.

I love Ken Jennings's blog! And I totally agree with you -- the trivia stuff doesn't usually interest me all that much, but the rest of it is reliably wonderful.
