A better day...

This morning brings all kinds of fixes.

I discovered that my web hosting service that was down yesterday was down becaues I didn't pay the bill. Now, the fact that they provided no way for me to pay the bill (at the time I signed up they didn't have their billing structure in place) and they sent no reminder was a bit disconcerting. But I sent a couple of frantic notes and I got responses this morning (these dudes are in England). They restored my account before I even ponied up the needed cash. They are a good service. I was only down for about 12 hours. I am not unhappy.

A couple of days ago I was whining because my LJ friends groups were getting mushed together. Today, I discovered that it was because I kept getting logged out. When you are not logged on, LJ doesn't know you have friends groups and they just throw everybody on a default friends page. When you are logged on you can have your friends page display a group at a time. Mystery solved. Whew.

I got an interesting thing in the mail yesterday. It was a newsletter from a piece of software I've had for a long time and never used much. It's knitting pattern software. I don't make that many sweaters and the few I do make, I'm too lazy to design myself - which is what this software is for. I first found it when it first came out. I was fascinated by being able to use my computer with my knitting. This was 10 years ago. Anyway, yesterday's newsletter included a handwritten note to me saying I was one 30 who bought the original version 10 years ago and so please accept the programmer's gift of the $50 upgrade for free. Now wasn't that nice??

What's even nicer is that now there is a version for afghans. This could save me tons of time on the calculator, scribbling little notes about how many stitches needed for that section and how many for this section... hmmmm

Ok, now I need to get to work. The first person who mentions RFI to me this morning had better do it from a distance.

Cool on the software. Not-cool on the web host not notifying you, but glad they got it fixed.
