Happy Wednesday Everyone...
Mar. 19th, 2003 07:40 amI started using LJ's new beta last night and I like it, I really like it. Of course my friends' pages (where I spend most of my time) look the same but when I hit comment, I get the nice, new clean, sleek, beta format. It makes me smile.

Now if only they would fix it so I could search my own journal and figure out some kind of decent, full, easy archiving, that would really make me smile. (Oh and a client with spellcheck that works, plz.)

I have a boatload of shit to do today here at work. My manager is working three days a week these days. That gives me three day so pedal to the metal. One day for recovery and one day to get ready. It works pretty well. This week she's doing Monday, Tueday, Wednesday so today will be getting to the finish line. Doable.

I'm still looking for nosey neighbor surveillance equipment. There is just too much to know. I found one really nice looking website where it appears they have everything and know it all. I sent them an email telling them what I wanted and why and I got no response. I resent it again last night. If nothing today, then onward.

I am still not happy with one of my web hosting companies. So I'm nosing around looking for maybe a new one. And I gotta tell you, the competition had driven these puppies into the ground. I have very specific requirements for this one - ASP, ODBC, Frontpage, SMTP and at least 100 MB of storage for, preferably under $6.50 a month. And I need a two week trial to make sure it works and works well.
I got several offers but each left a question so I replied asking the various questions. I only heard back from one of those emails and that guy didn't give me complete information! Do they just donate all brain cells to someone else when they open up a webhosting company?
And, yeah, I know... you get what you pay for. Please don't interupt me when I'm whining.

But, seriously folks, Happy Wednesday! Especially to the newly recovered-and-now-enjoying-her-day-off
joyofmacs!

Date: 2003-03-19 07:58 am (UTC)You raise an interesting point here, and I will admit it is one of my Pet Peeves ©. If people post an email address on a website, why in God's name would they not respond promptly, and with the information that you have requested. This seems to be a no-brainer, but I am continually amazed by business people who don't respond to email (perhaps I should have said unsuccessful business people - yeah!!!).

Date: 2003-03-19 10:20 am (UTC)I don't think you want the hosting companies I've been looking at... But your requirements seems simple enough. You might take a look at WebHosting Talk forum.
I have stuff at three different hosting companies and so I'm looking for a very very cheap one - to replace the third of three.

Date: 2003-03-19 11:17 am (UTC)I did find that forum some time last week, and asked questions about my current host, which I will be dumping just as soon as I can. (The benefit of this search is that I have found more than one thing that will be useful in the future.) Maybe I can just ask them there if any of them have experience with the host I am considering.
