So I sat here tonight and decided that I was going to turn the intranet redesign into an exciting project instead of a drudge. It will keep me busy for a while and teach me some good negotiating skills and give me a good chance to make what I started even better. So I mentally signed up.

And then I checked my mail at work and found two notes from one jerk that really put me off on the whole work thing. Thankgod my manager is so excellent and understanding and smart and saavy. I work for her. The end.

I shall not get sucked into the vortex of crap. I shall not. I shall take what I want from the job - the commute, the fun bits, the paycheck and I shall give in return and I shall ignore the rest. Ignore, I say!

And I'm not going to take it out on you either. I shall limit my whining to only those times when it is really really really necessary. And that's not often. I shall not indulge. I can work somewhere else - somewhere with a nice fat commute. So I need to just put salt and pepper on that bullet and bite it or move on.

And that's that.

Hehehehe. Besides, any company larger than 5 people is probably guaranteed to have a minimum of one fuckchop, one twinkie, and one generic pain-in-the-ass. (When you know you're in trouble is when they're your boss and your two teammates, right?)

I hope you're able to keep that attitude, and enjoy the good parts. I'm going to try to borrow it now! :)

Hehehehe. Hey, sometimes, we can even find the funny things in the situations, right? (Like the time someone asked me to find a way to let their database server run - despite the fact that that computer was in total hard drive failure and couldn't boot or read data....)

You way of approaching your work situation is similar to mine. For me it works and I bet it does for you, too. You have my sympathy.

We just got in a brand new server which can do all sorts of wondrous things. Next week I dive in. Hopefully by then I will be done with the inventory project. I love to create databases which I export to excel. Making that database, with all its nifty bells and whistles made the job more than worthwhile.
