susandennisThe Wrestlemania crowd makes for very interesting people watching. Not sure I've ever seen a tough looking guy wearing an orange feather boa before. I've seen several today. And lots of t-shirts proclaiming stuff that sucks. Wish my new spotting scope was here for this. Oh well, maybe it will be here for next time.
I just bid on eBay. I can't remember if I've ever bought anything on eBay before or not. I've sold a lot of stuff - a couple of years ago - not recently. But, my Mom needs a TIVO. She doesn't need a fancy new one of the Series II, just one of the old ones 30 hours or less really. I'm actually kind of surprised that they are selling for as much as they are. New Series II's are going for $250 brand new. The old used units on eBay are going for more than half that.
Considering I can buy her a new one and return it (for full refund) if she can't get the hang of it or we can't get it set up for some reason, and buying on eBay these days is so dicey and offers no return, I'm not willing to pay more than $100. Doesn't look like I'm going to get one for that.
And speaking of TIVO - it picked up the movie Fame and I watched it this morning. It was fun to see again. It was kind of distracting to see Dr. Ramono from ER as a geeky teenager.
These fish have no significance except they make me smile.

Date: 2003-03-30 06:36 pm (UTC)Having said all that, it does appear as if used Tivos are holding their value pretty well, even the crappy little 14 hour series I's. This is kind of comforting being the owner of an upgraded series I myself. If I want to trade up, I'm pretty sure I'd be able to get a good price for this old one.
But, I'm sure not paying $150 or more for a used one for Mom when a new one is only $250. So bottom line, you are right...
