The Wrestlemania crowd makes for very interesting people watching. Not sure I've ever seen a tough looking guy wearing an orange feather boa before. I've seen several today. And lots of t-shirts proclaiming stuff that sucks. Wish my new spotting scope was here for this. Oh well, maybe it will be here for next time.

I just bid on eBay. I can't remember if I've ever bought anything on eBay before or not. I've sold a lot of stuff - a couple of years ago - not recently. But, my Mom needs a TIVO. She doesn't need a fancy new one of the Series II, just one of the old ones 30 hours or less really. I'm actually kind of surprised that they are selling for as much as they are. New Series II's are going for $250 brand new. The old used units on eBay are going for more than half that.

Considering I can buy her a new one and return it (for full refund) if she can't get the hang of it or we can't get it set up for some reason, and buying on eBay these days is so dicey and offers no return, I'm not willing to pay more than $100. Doesn't look like I'm going to get one for that.

And speaking of TIVO - it picked up the movie Fame and I watched it this morning. It was fun to see again. It was kind of distracting to see Dr. Ramono from ER as a geeky teenager.

These fish have no significance except they make me smile.

I buy stuff for the house on ebay all the time. I have not had a problem once. I am lucky I guess. I really check feedback, even though that is not a sure thing. I like old bird prints, and I get things to fill out my dishes and stainless for less money. Just corelle no big deal, but it is an expired pattern.

why TiVOs seem to cost so much

when you buy the "lifetime" service thing it's bundled to the s/n of your tivo unit and you can't transfer it to another ... so you're probably really buying tivo + the service.

remember that tivos have moving parts inside (hard disks). with that in mind, it just might make sense to get your mom a new tivo if you shop carefully ...

Hey! I'm selling my old 60 hour Series I TiVo. Seriously. It's in great shape, working modem (they were so delicate on the Series I, apparently). Phillips model. I think it has most of the original cables, but it definitely comes in the original box and has the original manuals. It has no subscription, as I took advantage of their offer to transfer the lifetime subscription to a new series II unit.

Allegedly I have another LJ friend considering buying it, but today was his deadline and I've not heard a word. I was going to eBay it tomorrow.

Make me an offer if you're interested and you get outbid on eBay.
