This has happened before so I'm documenting because if it keeps up, I am definitely going to take it to someone to get it fixed.

Sometime yesterday afternoon, my toe started hurting. Actually the pain, redness and swelling is just where the big toe meets my right foot. Same place and same foot as last time. Ice helps. In fact, in the middle of last night, I got up and got an ice pack for it and fell back asleep with the ice on it.

I don't remember it hurting quite this much last time and I don't remember how long it lasted. A day or so maybe.

I think if I can get it into my gym shoes, they have enough support that I'll be able to treadmill, or elliptical or at least bike for a bit. I'll give it a shot when the gym opens at 9.

I do not want it to be gout but I'm not wild about arthritis, either. My choice is to have it spontaneously heal before I can figure out where to take it for fixing.

Have you ruled out bursitis?

Athlete's foot sometimes causes swelling along with pain and redness.

Turf toe?

But seriously, if ibuprofin helped it is probably joint-related. Could be arthritis. Worth having it looked at while the symptoms are still there - waiting won't help a diagnosis.
