It's been a long time since I've had a young cat in the house. Actually the last kitten was Jake - 13 years ago. Betty's no kitten, but she's clearly a cat-olescent. Most of the time, she's more like an adult cat. Wandering around slowly and sleeping and hiding and coming around for cat rubs. But, she gets kitten fits, too. Usually in the mornings. She runs from room to room for no apparent reason. She lands on a toy and fights it to the end. She hops onto me and gets right into my face. It's pretty hilarioius.

Jake's kittenhood lasted about a year, as I recall and then he turned into the mellow cat he is today. He couldn't move fast if the place was on fire. The only time he gets into something he shouldn't is when I leave food somewhere.

This morning I woke up and a basket of matches and dried flowers that I keep in the floor was dristributed around the room. I got a scratch box for Betty yesterday. Jake fell in love with it - because of the catnip - he has no claws and spent the evening draped over it. Betty got her turn but also just draped herself over it. This morning, it has clearly been scratched - a lot.

There was stuff on the kitchen counter that was placed around the kitchen floor and the rug in the living room was nicely bunched up.

What a fun night Betty must have had. She's sleeping now on the bed. I can see why she would be tired.

Betty's down for her nap so Jake is cashing in on some non-competitive snuggle time... Here he is, being Jake.

editing to see why Joy and Judith can't see the picture!

Edited and cracked the code... the 'friendly' URL doesn't seem so friendly to some... the raw one works fine.

I had a lot of errands to do before I picked up my friend Patty. We had tickets to the Seattle Men's Chorus concert at 2 p.m. I found every single thing I needed - which never happens - easily. Plus some extra stuff I didn't know I needed!

Then we went to the concert. First of all the Seattle Men's Chorus is wonderful. I have never been to one of their concerts that was a dud. But they truly outdid themselves this time.

It was an ABBA concert and it was just better than fabulous. I'm always amazed when 300 men - all volunteers - can see together and I can understand every word. But these guys dance and carry on and do it beautifully. And today's show had some wonderful touches. But nothing can compare to the grand finale - a blow out of Dancing Queen! Dancing queens doing Dancing Queen complete with disco balls, dancing scarves and the whole nine yards - I never wanted it to end.

Patty and I both agreed we'd love to sit through it all over again from the top. It was just the very very best.
