My knitting needles that I mailed to myself arrived yesterday so at least I have something to do while we sit around and chat or think or try to remember stuff.

I am going to take the needles back with me along with printouts from the airlines and federal gov. websites saying that knitting needles are safe. And I have a SASE just in case.

I checked my work email and got all frustrated by some of the messages. Stupid stupid. Drop it. You aren't there. I need to spend some time figuring out a strategy for dealing with these changes at work. This is a good time to give that some thought. I'm not due back until Tuesday so I've got time.

I left Mom with her crossword puzzle this morning and went to Walmart. Heaven. I love Walmart. My closet one at home is a good 45 minute drive. This one is 2 minutes from here. I only bought the hanging folders I went for but I sure got a kick out of wandering around and looking at stuff.

Off now to have lunch with the money ladies.

Mom's movie debut has been postponed. I tried to explain that moving the date back might well interfere with upcoming opportunities for other roles, but, alas, they say they just aren't ready to shoot tomorrow.

This means we have a whole day to fill. I need to think on this. There isn't even a movie in town that we can go see - either they all suck or she wouldn't like it. Oh well.

I did just check my webcams at home and the house cleaner was there. She moved the one that is usually shows the TV so that now you see kind of a fuzzy version of the rest of the living room and terrace. But, it does look clean. That will sure be nice to come home to.

First of all, I would like to say that I am developing my annual case of snow-envy. This will last until the last of you report your snow has melted. I love snow. Love it, love it, love it. I lived in Minnesota for 18 months which I managed to spread over 2 winters and still did not get enough. We had 18 inches at my house in Seattle about 5 or 6 years ago and that's been about it since.

Good dinner tonight. We went to a new French restaurant. And, when I say new, I mean it opened last Saturday. They were very happy to have customers. I had fried chicken livers with pimento cheese and caesar salad with anchovie fritters. It was really really really good. And different. The chef came out and told me how he made the pimento cheese which was exceptional. I may have to try it.

We made reservations today for Thanksgiving dinner at a nice restaurant downtown. They serve it here at 'the home' but last year it was really not that good and we vowed to go somewhere else this year.

Now I am going to take my book and read. Mom is in bed and all is quiet for now.

[livejournal.com profile] estis is sharing his snow tonight. He promises to have it on when he cooks bacon nude tomorrow. Oh, wait, I think he only promised to have it on while he cooks. It was [livejournal.com profile] joyofmacs who suggested the nude bacon cooking. Anyway, she said she'd have hers on tomorrow for a cooking show.

And, I just checked mine and caught my neighbor, Lee, having a pretty long and involved conversation with Betty. What a fun catch. I miss Betty and Jake and my living room. What a neat surprise to get a little look.
