This morning at work I amazed mself by not getting all in a twit when this idiot screwed something up that really affected me. Instead I just sent him a note pointing out the problem and rather than stew about whether or not he was going to fix it, I just figured he was and went on my merry way. He did and I was very proud of my grown up attitude. In no time at all I'll be 54 years old and the maturity is finally showing through.

Of course having the afternoon off really is an attitude fixer.

Off to the grocery store where I did not buy any Peeps even though they did not have my bite sized Baby Ruths. The truth is that they only had pink Peeps and Peeps should be yellow. Really. Pink Peeps are just wrong.

Then home for a weekend when no one wants nothing from me. Oh I did promise Kenny at work that if he needed a tester to holler. He's upgrading the Exchange software this weekend and totally stressed about it.

I have three Netflix movies and one videotaped movie to watch and baseball games (Spring training) on the radio both Saturday and Sunday. This is my idea of a perfect weekend.

I live in a section of downtown Seattle called Pioneer Square - it's the historic district and there is a lot of cool stuff down here (besides me) including a lot of really good jazz bars. About 10 years ago the community association decided that this would be the perfect spot for a Mardi Gras celebration. So they started making a big deal out of Mardi Gras every year.

People in Seattle - mainly young people - got with the program. They had seen New Orleans on the news so they knew it was the time to get drunk and get nakid and get crazy. It got wilder every year. Two years ago it hit riot stage. Three nights in a row. On the final night, a kid was killed in the riot.

Last year they put the kibosh on it pretty much. Not much went on. This year they are kind of talking out of both sides of their mouths - come on down for Mardi Gras and don't do anything.

In the street between my terrace and the parking lot across the street, they often park the police horse vans and then use the neighborhood to give the horses some work. Usually it's a van at a time. Tonight there are three of them - 4 horses with their mounted police in each one. And they have just moved out towards the action.

I'll be here - inside my living room - watching TV and reading my new mystery novel. No horses. No cops. I may get nakid, we'll see.
