The baseball game is on the radio. It's such a wonderful, comforting sound. When I was a little girl I used to listen to baseball games with my Grandpa. We'd sit on the back porch and you had to be real quiet. If you weren't real quiet you got booted out. (My brother and sister never made it past the first inning.) But, if you were real quiet and made it to the 7th inning stretch, you got a Coke A Cola. And, you got to drink it right out of the bottle. (This was as close to illicit substance as I got before college. In my Mother's house, you got a soft drink about twice a year and NEVER did you get to drink it out of the bottle.)

Anyway, by the time I got to that Coke, I was totally hooked on the game. Dizzy Dean and PeeWee Reece were the announcers back then. Today is a Spring training game that doesn't even count and I have Diet Dr. Pepper instead of Coke but it's still wonderful.

I left the living room today. And, what's more... I went outside. Yep. I'm sure it will be on the evening news but I wanted you to know about it first. The fresh air did not kill me either. So there.

I walked over to our Japanese market which doubles as my closest grocery store. I got lettace and mushrooms and onions and dinner from the food court - general tso's chicken and duck with steamed rice - to go.

The Japanese market is, oddly enough, in the heart of Seattle's International District which is exactly one large stadium parking lot from here. The ID, as we in the 'hood like to call it, is really more Asian than anything else. Lots of Chinese, Thai, Viet Namese and Japanese restaurants and shops. A fair number of American and Asian coffee shops and some nice little public places for sitting outside.

This afternoon, I saw two fairly elderly Asian men on their bicycles riding down the road talking to themselves. In the little park I walk though there was a guy sitting on a bench having a smoke wearing what sure looked like a showercap made of tin foil. It did not go with his outfit. And I saw an idiot kid jay walk right in front of a motor cycle cop. He got busted.

Now I am home and resting from my adventures. I love where I live.
