I finished up a big project that I hated today. One of the reasons I hate it is that the people I'm doing it for could care less and will care less and will only find fault with it. Way to incent!!

Then I got a meeting notice that really pissed me off. Pissed me off that they want to sucker me in and pissed me off the way they did it.

So I left and walked around the block.

Came back to an email from my manager to the meeting people telling them that I did not need to be involved. Wahoo!

And another email from her pointing out a couple of things I really had missed on the project and at least telling me that she appreciates what I did.

Then I listened to the Mariner game the way [livejournal.com profile] kjaz taught me (bang on desk at good parts and happy dance at runes) only just like last time I follwed his plan, the Mariners went down in flames. Note to self: Burn Kjaz's instructions.

So. I left work at 3. I'm off now to meet my friend, Patty, for coffee. Patty moved to Chicago last year to get her library degree and I haven't seen her since. Should be fun to get a quick catch up. Then I'm going over to the Japanese grocery to get lobster for dinner. I've been jonesing for some for a while and I'm just going to go get it out of my system.

And that's the current round up. You will, of course, be notified of any updates. Just leave that channel dial (yes, [livejournal.com profile] pinkfish, that's an old lady reference) where it is.

Patty and I had more to catch up on than I realized. I really do miss having her around. We had a wonderful visit. After a sit and chat she had mentioned a jacket she'd seen on sale earlier in the day so we walked to mid-town to get it and then back to the 'hood where she went off to meet her sister and I went over to get the lobster.

No go. They only had live ones. I'm too lazy to peel shrimp, getting a lobster out of his outfit is not me. I stood in the store and fired up the cellphone where my favorite Chinese place is on speed dial. My usual Kung Pau Beef - yum. While they worked on it, I bought some lucky bamboo and a little vase for a 'thank you for inviting me' present for Sunday.

[livejournal.com profile] kjaz reminds me that our Costco has already naked lobster on sale most of the time. I'm due for a Costco trip probably next weekend. I can wait.

But for now... I'm exhausted. Time for feet up and needles working... I'll be on the webcam if you need me.

I love my subject lines. Anway... tonight I saw a rather extensive ad for the American version of Coupling and here's a newsflash!

It looks like they are doing the same show! I mean it. Jeff looks like Jeff. Patrick looks like. Steve looks like Steve. And the bar looks like the same bar - not exactly but close - and Susan flashes her boobs to the group in the first episode! (Ooops should I have said *** spoiler***?? Nah, you will have seen the ad before then.

Thursday nights, NBC - I mean they have nothing original in this whole idea!

It will be odd, tho, to watch the whole thing without having to backspace to catch that funky British phrase that one of them swallowed so you could hear it. Sorry, guys, you have wonderful accents but a serious mumble problem. I can't wait to hear the translation.

Wonder if they will use the same music???

The Summer after my second year of college, I worked for Eastern Airlines (and, yes, [livejournal.com profile] pinkfish, this was many years ago) in the corporate communications department. It was in Rockerfeller Plaza and I was such hot shit I could hardly stand myself. All grown up working with adults. Holey moley.

At Summer's end, my co-workers took me to lunch at the Rainbow room. I was so trying to be cool but I had no idea what to order... Then I spied 'Trout Almandine with.... etc... and peeled grapes."

When I was 20, the only thing more exciting than having a real (sub-minimum wage) job in a real corporation was dining in a famous restaurant with some dude was in the back peeling my grapes. The 60's were a bit confusing for me....
